The boundaries of what we consider to be a textile have just been pushed to new limits. Cork-a-Tex is a novel approach to yarns and fabric; it just won best new material at the Techtextil Innovation Awards 2019. Cork waste and cotton are combined to form a unique marriage that takes the best of both worlds to create a textile with the soft hand of cotton and all of the great benefits of cork, such as being hypoallergenic, and having a high abrasion resistance, plus high friction coefficient. Applications are wide, from upholstery, to accessories and apparel.

Techtextil and Texprocess are two of 100+ design events Trendease attends each year. Subscribers to www.trendease.com can see detailed show coverage here.
